European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule welcomed Georgian leaders' actions in the interests of the country.
"The leaders of Georgia pushed aside their problems and the process of power transfer comes easy," Fule said at a briefing in Tbilisi.
He noted that President Saakashvili and Ivanishvili forgot claims against each other and work in the interest of Georgia.
EU Ambassador to Georgia Philip Dimitrov and Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Helga Schmid participated in the briefing.
Fule stressed that he is in Georgia on behalf of the High Commissioner Catherine Ashton.
"We are pleased that our visit took place immediately after the EU Council of Foreign Ministers recognized democratic elections in Georgia and have expressed support for Georgia on the path of European integration," he said.
