NAGORNO-KARABAKH CONFLICT WAS DISCUSSED AT SITTING OF PACE POLITICAL COMMITTEE

Sitting of the provisional sub-committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Chechnya took place yesterday. A member of the Azerbaijan’s delegation to PACE, chairman of the Party of Democratic Reforms (PDR) Asim Mollazade participated in the meeting, PDR told Trend.

Issues related to Chechnya were discussed in detail at the sitting. The decision to hold a “roundtable” connected with Chechnya in Strassbourg has been taken. The ad hoc has been set up in this regard, which is to identify issues to be discussed during the “roundtable”, as well as the venue for the event.

Apart from this, sitting of the PACE Political Committee took also place yesterday,

at which the same issues were discussed as the day before by the sub-committee on Nagorny Karabakh. Asim Mollazade spoke at the Political Committee in regard to the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict. The political Committee took into consideration the decisions of the subcommittee on Nagorny Karabakh, taken the day before yesterday and confirmed them. The Political Committee decided to put the issue on Nagorny Karabakh for the discussion at PACE during the October session.

Mollazade has been included in the delegation, which will be sent to Lichtenstein for discussions the situation in this country with the Parliament of this state. The decision that Mollazade will carry on his mission as the CE representative in Belarus has been also taken. It was decided that the DRP chairman would represent the Council of Europe at the Conference of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in connection with Belarus.
