Next talks on Azerbaijan admission to WTO to take place this year

Next round of talks on admission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) is scheduled for the last quarter of this year. This decision was made during the recent negotiations between the Azerbaijan government and the WTO leadership in Geneva, the Foreign Affairs Ministry told Trend.

Azerbaijan was represented at the talks by the delegation with the vice-Foreign Minister, Mahmud Mamed-Kuliyev in charge. Documents on updated versions of proposals in tariffs and services areas, legislature modification plan, agriculture subsidizing schedule presented to the WTO secretariat were discussed at the meeting. As a result of successful negotiations, an agreement was reached with Georgia on entering into the goods and services markets. After all the documents will be prepared according to the WTO rules, both countries will sign a bilateral protocol. A number of questions were answered by the Azerbaijani site in the course of talks.

USA, EU, Japan, Turkey, Georgia, Norway, Pakistan and some other WTO member-states have supported Azerbaijan in its admission to the organization.
