The Council of Europe (CE) will attentively observe over the re-run, by- and new municipal scheduled for 6 October 2006, Trend reports citing Halvdan Scard, the President of the CE Congress of the Local and Regional Authorities as stating in Baku on 28 June.
According to Skard, the observers of the Congress will be dispatched to the country in this respect. In addition, the representatives of the CE Regional Committee will be sent to Azerbaijan.
The municipal elections are being observed by the Congress. Besides, voting of national scale is also under the competence of the CE, in particular, the CE Regional Committee.
