Azerbaijani Health Ministry State Absence of Bird Flu' Virus in Hospitalized Patient

The Health and Agriculture Ministries of Azerbaijan issued a joint statement on January 26th. On January 24th, a resident of Dayikend Village of Salyan District was hospilized, the diagnosis was bronchial pneumonia, Trend reports.

On January 25th laboratory analysis at PZR laboratory of the State Veterinary Service along with spcialists of the Health Ministry came up with a negative result for the bird flue' virus. Samples will be sent to a laboratory of the World Health Organization. The Ministry stated that no plague of poultry, or wild birds was observed at this village and nearby areas.

Taking into consideration the seasonal migration of wild birds and to guard against the disease, the Health and Agriculture Ministries recommend that the public avoid close contact with birds, keep poultry separately from wild birds, inform the local veterinary services in the case of plague of poultry, to cease hunting them and appeal to hospitals in the case of body temperature being above 38ВєC with catarrhal signs, to follow personal hygiene.
