New Chairman of Azerbaijani Islam Party Elected

Azerbaijan, Baku m/ Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The 4th meeting of the Islam Party of Azerbaijan (IPA) has been held. During the meeting, reports were heard by Hajiaga Nuri, Chairman of IPA, and Fayaz Nabizadeh, Chairman of Central Inspection Commission.

Hajiaga Nuri, Rovshan Ahmadov and Movsum Samadov nominated their candidacy for the post of chairman. However, Nuri and Ahmadov revoked their candidacy. Samadov was elected as chairman of IPA.

Participants at the meeting re-elected the Central-inspection commission, consisting of three people.

Haji Movsum Samadov, 62, was born in the Azerbaijani Guba region. He graduated at the Azerbaijani Medical State University, as well as receiving higher spiritual education. In 1993 he became a member of IPA.

IPA was founded in August 1991 and in 1992 was registered in the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry. Due to its participation in the Parliamentary elections in 1995, IPA repeatedly failed to be registered.
