Following rain showers overnight, the 11th day of Olympic competition began Tuesday with sunshine and warm temperatures in Beijing, dpa reported.

Temperatures were around 22 degrees in the early morning but were expected to climb to 30 degrees by midday. Those competing in the triathlon will also have to deal with humidity of over 90 per cent.

Sailors in Qingdao can expect just light winds while participants in the equestrian competition in Hong Kong face spells of sunshine and temperatures in the region of 30 degrees. Rain and the odd thunderstorm are possible during the men's football semi-final between Nigeria and Belgium in Shanghai.
