The Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) approved on Wednesday the list of institutes and research centers that administer doctoral degrees. According to the decision, 37 academic institutions have been included on the list.
Azerbaijan will hold examinations for doctorates in October-November and receive candidates to the doctorate by late 2010.
"If other institutions adminster the relevant specialties in the future, they will be included on the list," ANAS President Mahmud Kerimov said at a meeting.
Under the new rules of admission to doctorates, which have been approved the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, there requirements for entrance exams were increased and supervisors, as well as the requirements for the institutions that will administer doctorates, were selected.
In 2009, admission to this stage of education was not implemented. The Azerbaijani Parliament adopted a new law "On education" in June 2009.
