The Caucasian Muslims Office (CMO) publicized the list of mosques and places of pilgrimage, where voluntary blood donation campaign will be held on the Ashura Day.
The blood donation campaigns will be held in mosques Tazapir, Haji Sultanali, Bibi Heybat, Mir-Movsum aga, Garachukhur, Sumgait Mosque, Imamzade Mosque in Ganja, Heydar Mosque in Mingachevir , Sheki Mosque, Shirvan Mosque, Boyukbazar Mosque in Lankaran and Barda Mosque, CMO Spokesman Rahim Dadasheova told Trend.
The CMO calls on believers to hold Ashura Day by observing public order in mosques and holy places. The CMO urges citizens to perform religious injunctions in connection with the Ashura day in a calm atmosphere, without bloodletting.
The month of Muharram is the first month of Islam on the Hijra calendar. Ashura Day falls on Dec. 16.On this day, Yazid ibn Muawiya's troops killed Imam Hussein and his relatives.
Azerbaijan, as well as in countries with a predominantly Shiite population, hosts the ceremony of remembrance of those killed with impunity the descendants of the Prophet and other Muslims.
