Population growth rate in Iran has decreased to 1.3 percent from 1.6 percent in 2006, the head of Iran's Statistics Center Adil Azar said at a press conference devoted the publication of statistical data on census returns on Monday.
Iran has a population of 74,961,702 people, with 51 percent of men and 49 percent of women, Azar said.
According to Azar, 71 percent of the population lives in the city. The figure amounted to 68 percent in 2006.
The country has 20,703,935 families, with an average of 3.6 persons in each.
Iran has held census From Oct. 24 to Nov. 13.
Census of population in Iran is held every five years.
