Investigation into fire outbreak in Baku under control of Azerbaijani president
Baku, Azerbaijan, May 19
The investigation and the operational search measures as part of the criminal case upon the fact of the fire in a building in Baku is under the control of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, said the joint message from the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations, Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office.
The Prosecutor General's Office, Interior Ministry and Ministry of Emergency Situations have created an operational search group consisting of the experienced employees to investigate the criminal case on the fact of the fire that has left 16 people dead.
Currently, the rescue operations and inspection of the apartments are underway.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Investigation Department on Grave Crimes of the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan upon the fire fact on the Articles 225.2 (violation of fire safety rules), 308.2 (abuse of power) and 314.2 (negligence) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
The fire that occurred in a multi-storey building in the Azadlig Avenue in Baku left 16 people dead and 54 more injured, according to the latest data.
