Number of retirees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.26 million as of July 1, 2020, Trend reports citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population.
Some 736,900 people out of all the retirees receive an old-age pension, 380,900 people - for disability and 142,200 - due to the loss of a breadwinner.
In the first six months of this year, the average monthly pension increased by 27 percent compared to the same period of 2019 and amounted to 300 manat ($176.4), including the average monthly old-age pension increased by 25.24 percent and amounted to about 330 manat ($194.1).
At the same time, amount of pension funds paid to retirees increased by 436.5 million manat ($256.7 million) or 24.09 percent over the year, having surpassed 2.2 billion manat ($1.3 billion).
In 1H2020, 25,100 people received a pension in electronic format through an automated pension assignment system. This system is in activity from the beginning of 2019, as the first proactive service in the country, allowing automatically assigning a pension to eligible persons, without their applying any or the structure and presentation of documents.
