AGHDAM, Azerbaijan, June 19. The remains of over 400 Azerbaijanis killed by Armenian armed forces have been discovered since the signing of the trilateral statement between Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia in 2020 [following the second Karabakh war] to date, Deputy Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan Eldar Samadov told Trend.

He noted that the mass grave found in Sarijali village of the Aghdam district is yet another fact of the crime committed by Armenia.

"After the liberation of our lands, the state commission, together with other structures, has been searching and doing excavation work in order to find the remains of our citizens, who went missing as a result of Armenia's military aggression," Samadov said.

According to him, work on discovery of remains of Azerbaijanis in the liberated territories is ongoing.

"According to the information we have, along with our military servicemen, civilians were also killed on this territory," Samadov added.

It's assumed that the persons, whose remains were found in Sarijali village, were killed and buried by Armenian armed forces in 1992 [during the first Karabakh war].

Previously, as a result of the relevant search activities, the mass graves were also found in Shusha city, the villages of Dashalty (Shusha district), Edilli (Khojavand district), Sirkhavand (Aghdam district), as well as Farrukh village (Khojaly district) and other areas.
