Azerbaijan and UK to share expertise on hospital management

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 7. The prospects of collaboration in the field of health care were examined during the regular meeting of the intergovernmental Azerbaijan-UK commission on trade and economic cooperation, Trend reports.

As a result of the meeting in Baku, the following tasks were defined:

- The State Agency for Mandatory Health Insurance (SAMHI) and the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) should identify specific areas of interest in which the UK can assist by sharing knowledge and best practices through research trips and relevant business partners.

- Promote Public Private Partnership (PPP) and UK Export Finance (UKEF) prospects in Azerbaijan's healthcare industry;

- Exchange of hospital management expertise from the United Kingdom, as well as training of hospital administrative staff by UK professionals;

- Collaboration in developing capacity-building training programs for staff working in the mandatory health insurance field.

- Azerbaijan should share its knowledge and experience in the sphere of healthcare funding.

In Baku, the sixth meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland was conducted.

The discussion focused on bilateral collaboration in business, energy transition, healthcare, infrastructure, information and communication technology, cyber security, digital economy, and other areas.

The commission is co-chaired by Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and British Minister of State for Exports Lord Malcolm Offord.
