ZANGILAN, Azerbaijan, August 22. The length of the tunnel built at the 106th km of Horadiz Agband railway line is 1,071 meters, the head of department of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC Fayaz Rustamov told reporters, Trend reports.
He made the statement at the media tour on the construction of the Horadiz-Agband railroad line organized by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC in the territory.
Rustamov pointed out that the tunnel's dimensions are wide enough to leave room for electrifying the railway line down the road.
“The construction of the tunnel is carried out using a new Austrian method. In this method, the tunnel design is tailored to fit the rocky soil's bearing capacity, resulting in cost optimization.
The borings are carried out by drilling and blasting. Drilling in the tunnel is carried out both on the entrance and exit sides,” he concluded.
