BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Climate finance stems from historical responsibility, said Meena Raman, a representative of the Third World Network, at a press conference titled "Preservation and Use of Cultural Heritage: Key to Opening the Shanxi Transition" within COP29 in Baku today, Trend reports.

Raman stressed that poor countries are already bearing the brunt of climate disasters.

"There is no longer any justification for those who caused these calamities. Now, they must step forward and see if they can fulfill their obligations," she said.

She further highlighted the importance of COP29 becoming a financial summit.

"Climate finance arises from historical responsibility. Let’s not forget that," Raman added.

To note, the COP29 conference has officially started today in Baku, Azerbaijan. Running from November 11 through November 22, this pivotal event brings together world leaders, policymakers, and climate experts to address the urgent challenges of climate change.
