The State Committee on Azerbaijanis residing abroad told Trend that Sunday School for Azerbaijani children has been recently opened at the initiative of the Finnish-Azerbaijani Friendship Group based in Helsinki.
Addressing the opening ceremony Arzu Muradly, the Director of the school, noted that key objective of the school is to teach children residing out of Azerbaijan to speak native language, inform them about the national traditions, history and culture.
20 Azerbaijani children will learn mother tongue and literature, history and geography of the country. The Finnish-Azerbaijani Society also plans to open such schools for elders. Now it is working over development of special programs dedicated to Azerbaijan on the Finnish television channels.
