Azeri Grand Master Refused Participation in Tournament in Veik-An-Zee

The Azerbaijani Grand Master Shahriyar Mammadyarov has decided not to participate in the 2007 prestigious international tournament in Veik-An-Zee.

He intends to take a break after his busy schedule this year and regain his strength in time for new forthcoming championships, Mammadyarov informed Trend.

Over the recent months, Mammadyarov has gained victory in Holland and also participated in the club championship in Spain and the Memorial of Mikhail Talya and Blitz Cup in Moscow. The recent championship has exhausted me and I have decided to take a break, Mammadyarov stressed.

Mammadyarov is expected to be included as one of the ten best grand masters in the new rating of FIDE.
