The Advocate of the Bar Association of Azerbaijan, Ikram Shirinov, informed Trend that he will leave to Budapest as advocate of Safarov family on January 15 to meet with the Officer of the Azerbaijan Army, Ramil Safarov, who has been sentenced to the life imprisonment. He will get familiarized with the documents regarding the appeal complaint.

He said that during the first visit he will meet with R.Safarov, get familiarized with documents, prepare necessary documents, meet with the appointed Hungarian Advocate George Majar and will return to Baku. The next visit will be made several days before the court process begins. Shirinov refuted the information that on January 15, other advocate Elmar Karimov will go with him to Budapest.

He said that Karimov will go to Budapest on the eve of the court session. I regularly speak with Safarov and discuss questions linked with the appeal court, Shirinov said.

In addition, he said that deficiencies have been allowed in the first instance court on the case of Safarov. In addition, the great role in appointing heinous crime for Safarov was played by the sensation in the Azerbaijani community. If such sensations continue around the Appeal Court, the speeches may be irresponsible and this may adversely affect the resolution of the Court Shirinov said.

Touching up on the information that the court session has been scheduled for February 22, 2007, he said that he has no information about this, adding that it is early to speak about the exact date of the court.

It should be mentioned that Ramil Safarov, who is accused of killing the

Armenian officer in Budapest, has been sentenced to the life-imprisonment on April 13, 2006. Safarov made appeal complaint. The Azerbaijan Embassy in Hungary said that the Court session will begin on December 22, 2006 under chairmanship of Judge Karpati Pirojki.
