Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend Z.Safarov / Kirsan Ilumjinov, the President of FIDE, will not attend the international tournament in Baku on 3 September, where he has been invited as a guest.
According to Faig Hasanov, the Vice President of the National Federation, although Ilumjinov had previously accepted the invitation to the tournament, he then cancelled his visit through ill health. Flarencio Kampomanes, the honorary head of the organization, will substitute Ilumjinov in Baku.
Hasanov also said that all participants in the tournament, including Ekaterina Lango, a European champion representing Ukraine, and Antoinette Stefanova world champion who will be representing Bulgaria, have arrived in Azerbaijan and have begun training for their first match.
