BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 21

By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:

The digital transformation project of Azerbaijan’s PASHA Bank OJSC began three years ago, Vusal Khalilov, Head of the PASHA Bank Engineering Department, told Trend.

According to Khalilov, the number of IT experts during this period increased 15 times, the most advanced technologies were introduced, nearly 400 microservices and 7 storage clusters were installed.

“Some 93 percent of the bank's operations are those operations that no longer require visiting the bank, as it was before, only in 7 percent of cases our clients visit the bank and its branches,” he added.

“Moreover, as part of the digital transformation, the capabilities of remote activation and card issuance and a number of other electronic opportunities were integrated that contribute to the development of the IT industry. Remote issuance and activation of cards can be considered one of the most important integrated technical solutions in the bank’s current work,” Khalilov said.

One of the features of the development of digital transformation is its provision against cyber threats, he stressed.

“PASHA Bank is constantly working on provision of the banking segment with security solutions,” the bank representative said.

“The cyber threat sector is moving forward, which is why our IT threat response team works on the principle: to prevent threats, it is necessary to stay ahead of them,” Khalilov added.

“The bank has the appropriate certificates for storing data and issuing bank cards. Each holder, in most cases, binds a mobile phone number to the issued card for even greater security,” Khalilov noted.

Despite this, the client should be aware that when making a payment via the internet and saving his card data for a specific store, subsequent payments will be made without OTP Security confirmation (that is, entering the payment confirmation code through an SMS from the bank), he noted.

“Therefore, I recommend making purchases only in trusted online stores, observing cybersecurity measures, not clicking on unknown links and not entering your card details on unknown internet resources,” the PASHA Bank representative added.
