Azerbaijan starts transporting metal structures via BTK railway route to Turkey

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan.12

Trend:

ADY Express LLC, subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, for the first time in 2021, has begun transporting export-oriented goods by the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway route, a source in the LLC told Trend on Jan.12.

According to the source, one of the main activities of the ADY Express is the transportation of export goods to foreign markets.

"This time, we transported metal structures produced by Baku Steel Company to Turkey - the cargo was delivered from Baku to the Payas station in Turkey. The metal structures were loaded into cars provided by ADY Express and delivered to the Akhalkalaki station (Georgia). The cargo was transshipped to Turkish wagons, after which the cargo continued on its way in the direction of Turkey,” said the source.

Besides, it’s planned to transport 5,000 tons of metal structures in 75 wagons, of which the first 15 wagons have already been delivered (part of the cargo is still in transit), and to continue the transportation of such goods along the BTK route.

In 2020, ADY Express transported a total of 49,739 tons of cargo by the BTK railway, of which 97 percent fell on transit cargo and 3 percent on imported cargo, while in 2019, 25,722 tons of cargo were transported by the company via the same railroad.
