BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 12
By Sadraddin Aghjayev - Trend:
Thanks to the joint campaign of the E-PUL and MasterCard payment system in Azerbaijan, the number of P2P (peer to peer) money transfer transactions (from card to card) has grown to several million per month, CEO of PAYSIS (the legal owner of the E-PUL payment system) Samir Nasibov told Trend.
According to Nasibov, after the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the banking segment began to actively move to the digital plane.
In addition, some experts engaged in this area began to close sales channels from aggregators, thereby directing users to their applications, the company's CEO noted.
“This move undoubtedly caused a decline in our performance, but we compensated for the low turnover of the financial sector with remittances turnover, payments at the petrol station network and sales in our marketplace, which increased the company's revenues by 18.6 percent compared to the first half of 2020,” he said.
Nasibov also said citizens actively use E-PUL services in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran, and Goychay cities.
“The share of mobile users is 85 percent, and this indicates that the era of tablets and websites in Azerbaijan, as well as in the whole world, is behind. Users today prefer mobile apps over websites. Popular services, with the exception of the banking sector, are, of course, mobile communications, utilities, and insurance services. Also, thanks to a joint campaign with MasterCard on money transfers from card to card without commission, the number of transactions on this service has grown to several million per month,” Nasibov said.
