BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 21. The number of point-of-sale (POS) terminals in Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) reached 1,548 in the first quarter of 2022, up by 7.72 percent, or 111 terminals against the same period in 2021, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee of the NAR.

According to the agency, total payments through them amounted to nearly 38.9 million manat ($22.89 million) in the reporting period, increasing by 37.3 percent compared to January through March 2021.

Some 196,087 bank accounts were opened in Nakhchivan, which was 102,001 more than in the same period of 2021 (94,086 accounts).

The gross domestic product (GDP) of the NAR increased by 1.5 percent in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 and exceeded 570.38 million manat ($335.7 million).
