BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. Number of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 23,100 people as of April 1, 2022, or 1.4 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
According to committee, total number of employees in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.7 million people as of April 1, 2022, including 905,000 in public sector of economy and 797,800 in private sector.
Some 19.6 percent of total number of employees was in education, 18.7 percent in trade and repair of vehicles, 12.6 percent in industry, 8.2 percent in healthcare and social services, and 7.3 percent in construction.
Some 6.6 percent of total number of employees fell on public administration, defense and social security, 4.3 percent - transport and warehousing, 3.5 percent - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 3.4 percent - scientific and technical activities, 1.9 percent - for financial and insurance activities, 13.9 percent - for other sectors of economy.
According to preliminary data, average monthly nominal wage of employees in Azerbaijan increased by 13.4 percent year-on-year and amounted to 809 manat ($475.8) in 1Q2022.
According to this indicator, growth was recorded in mining industry, in areas of financial, insurance, scientific and technical activities, in information and communication sector, also in transport and warehousing spheres.
