BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. Tax revenues in Iran increased by 49 percent, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), compared with the same time last year, an official of Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) Mojtaba Amiri said, Trend reports.
During 6 months, tax revenues in Iran were around 3.44 quadrillion rials (about $81.9 billion), according to Amiri.
“Of that amount, 2.25 quadrillion rials (about $53.6 billion) accounted for direct taxes (includes legal tax, wealth tax, income tax), which is an increase of 53 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he added.
Meanwhile, taxes on goods and services for the reporting period stood at 1.18 quadrillion rials (about $28.1 billion). This is 45 percent more than in the same period last year, the official noted.
Overall, tax revenues in Iran amounted to 4.7 quadrillion rials (about $112 billion) in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023). This is an increase of 54 percent compared to 3.05 quadrillion rials (about $72.6 billion) the preceding Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
Reportedly, Iran's tax revenues are estimated at 7.49 quadrillion rials (about $178 billion) in the state budget for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 - March 19, 2024).
