Azerbaijan announces volume of its foreign trade turnover

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover decreased by 23.76 percent ($4.2 billion) from January through April 2024, year on year, from $17.88 billion to $13.6 billion, Trend reports.

Data from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan shows that exports accounted for $8.16 billion in the structure of foreign trade turnover, which is $4.4 billion (35 percent) less than the figure for the same period last year.

The share of exports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 59.92 percent, down from 70.37 percent a year earlier.

Azerbaijan's imports in the reporting period increased year-on-year by almost $167 million (3.15 percent), from $5.29 billion to about $5.46 billion.

The share of imports in the foreign trade turnover amounted to 40 percent, up from 29.63 percent a year earlier.

As a result, the balance of foreign trade turnover, while remaining positive in the period under review, declined year-on-year by over $4.58 billion (62.9 percent) to $2.7 billion against $7.28 billion in the reporting period of 2023.

Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover in 2023 decreased by 2.85 percent ($1.5 billion) compared to 2022, from $52.68 billion to $51.18 billion.
