BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. Azerbaijan is a pivotal economic force in the South Caucasus, shaping the region’s economic landscape, Sherzod Faiziev, the Deputy Director of the International Institute of Central Asia (IICA) stated during his speech at an online conference hosted by the Center for International Relations Analysis of Azerbaijan and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
Sherzod Faiziev mentioned that the close rapprochement between
Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan is an important and the most positive
component for strengthening relations between the two regions -
Central Asia and the South Caucasus.
"It is pleasant to note that Azerbaijan has significantly
strengthened its relations not only with Uzbekistan but also with
all the countries of Central Asia, our neighbors," he added.
To note, Baku hosts the "Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: New prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation" online conference. The event is organized by the Center and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
Moreover, the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan business forum took place in Tashkent on August 22, resulting in a project portfolio worth $2 billion. The following day, during President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Tashkent, he and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with business representatives from both countries. As a result, seven projects worth $520 million were prepared for launch.
