BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 11. The United States aims to boost climate financing efforts, the Senior Advisor to the US President for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation John Podesta said at a briefing in Baku today, Trend reports.
“If you look back at the last four years, the President made a commitment at the UN General Assembly in 2021 to increase our funding from $1.5 billion to $11 billion. To put that in perspective, this is four times the highest level we have ever had, which was during the Obama administration. In fact, it decreased somewhat during the Trump administration. We are on course to achieve this by 2024," he said.
Podesta emphasized that both President Biden and Vice President Harris recognize the importance of assisting countries in formulating their plans and commitments, as determined nationally. He highlighted the necessity of developing energy systems that are low-carbon or carbon-free by utilizing renewable energy sources and other energy alternatives.
