ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 14. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Michael Wirth, Chairman of the Board of Chevron Corporation, and discussed the current status and future outlook of the strategic partnership, Trend reports.

“The meeting focused in particular on the continued development of major investment projects, including initiatives in gas production and petrochemical manufacturing," the press service of Kazakhstan’s President stated.

President Tokayev underscored Chevron’s vital role in the sustainable growth of Kazakhstan’s energy sector and congratulated Wirth on the successful completion of the Tengiz field expansion.

He also emphasized the importance of increasing the participation of domestic companies in the oil and gas industry and expressed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with Chevron on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis.

In his turn, Michael Wirth reaffirmed Chevron’s view of Kazakhstan as a reliable and strategic partner. He noted that from 1993 to 2024, the Tengizchevroil joint venture has made significant investments into the country’s economy.

Chevron, one of the world’s largest oil and gas corporations, is headquartered in the United States. It has operated in Kazakhstan since the early 1990s and remains a leading foreign investor in the nation’s energy sector.
