In January-May Azerbaijani transport means transported 16.23 million tons of cargo which makes up 48.38 percent of indicators of the same period of 2008, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said. Cargo exports totaled 13.29 millions tons and cargo imports 2.91 million tons.
Around 107,100 tons of cargo was transported via water, 1.25 million tons via rail, and 164,400 tons via roads, 397,400 tons via air and 11.36 million tons via pipelines.
Around 2.48 tons of cargo was transited via Azerbaijan, which makes up 86.40 percent of last year's volume or an increase of 391,700 tons.
Around 951,600 tons of cargo was transited via Azerbaijan to Switzerland, 237,500 million tons to Bermuda, 450,100 tons to Italy, 260,200 tons to Georgia, 205,200 tons to Turkmenistan, 97,300 tons to Tajikistan and 72,600 tons to Russia 44,700 tons to Turkey.
