Customs agencies of Azerbaijan and Russia strengthen combating customs offenses

State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan and the Federal Customs Service of Russia signed a protocol on mutual cooperation in combating customs offenses, SCC said on Sept. 19.

Prospects of future cooperation between the customs agencies in combating customs offenses were considered at a meeting in St. Petersburg, where the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by deputy head of the SCC Asker Abdullayev, and Russia - the deputy head of Customs Service Igor Zavrazhnov.

The sides discussed the current situation with the exchange of information, cooperation in combating trafficking of narcotic drugs, as well as operating conditions on the customs border of the two countries. In addition, were discussed the prospects for development and current cooperation between law-enforcement units of customs authorities, which was assessed as satisfactory.

The signed protocol envisages improving exchange of information, as well as notes the importance of continuing joint operational activities.
