Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov proposed the construction of railroad from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan with the participation of international organizations, donor countries and international financial institutions while speaking in New York for UN General Assembly, the Turkmen government said.

The report also noted that Turkmenistan is ready to host the UN-sponsored international high-level meeting to strengthen confidence in Afghanistan and develop effective institutions of state power given its neutral status.

The Turkmen president said that it is necessary to significantly intensify efforts to build the gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India.

"Trans-Afghan gas pipeline may have a significant impact on the economic development of Afghanistan, help to solve major social problems, including those related to employment, attract investment. It will have a positive impact on the political situation in the country," he said.

He said that Turkmenistan is ready to increase energy supplies to Afghanistan, as well as expand its energy infrastructure.
