The Azerbaijani Tax Ministry considers the share of payments made on a voluntary basis as taxes to be adequate at 80-85 percent, Deputy Minister Sahib Alakbarov said at a public discussion today.
"The share is now 67 percent," he said. "It is necessary to make repeated reminders or force the rest to pay taxes."
He said a major problem is deciding when to take administrative measures against people who evde taxes.
He said the ministry's primary goal is to move to voluntary tax payments by the population.
"The possibilities are limited," he said. "It is necessary to develop cooperation with NGOs and the population."
