About 10,514 real estate units were registered in Azerbaijan in January 2012, or 46.6 percent more than the same period of last year, the Azerbaijani State Property Committee said on Saturday.

In January, the total number of registered property was 3,860 flats, 3,798 land plots, 2,257 private houses, 290 uninhabited buildings, 196 non-residential areas, 66 residential complexes, 47 perennial plants.

"The number of privatized apartments in January 2012 hit 1,191 or 45.1 percent more compared to the same period of last year," a statement said.

According to the report, non-residential areas (73.5 percent) were mainly registered, residential complexes - 65 percent, private houses - 63 percent, non-residential buildings - 59 percent, land plots - 48 percent.

"High-rise buildings were not registered in January this year, as opposed to the previous year," a statement said.

Over 61 percent of the total number of real estate registered in January 2012 fell to the regions, respectively, less than 39 percent - Baku.

"The observations show that the increased interest and registration growth rate in the regions reduce the total share of Baku, but it does not mean the reduction of the registration rate in the capital," the statement said. "Thus, the majority of privatized apartments and non-residential areas fall to Baku."

In general, about 454,466 apartments were registered as of February 1, 2012.

The total number of registered real estate has exceeded 658,000 units from the beginning of 2006 to February 1, 2012.
