Kazakhstan to launch uranium extraction in 2013

Kazakhstan's major uranium extraction enterprise the Taukent Chemical and Mining Company has launched construction of a new mine at Central Moyinkum and is planning to extract the first 50 tons of uranium next year, a report from Kazatomprom the Kazakh nuclear company said on Monday.

'During 2004 the Taukent Chemical and Mining Company was mainly concentrating on the extraction and processing of uranium to yellow cake with concentrates amounting to 30 per cent.

Taukent chemical and mining company has high quality production, made through extraction of uranium from sulphuric acid solutions.

In 2004 Kazatomprom constructed a refinery which enabled it to launch export production - uranium oxide with an 87 per cent.

Kazatomprom is the sole owner of the Turkent Chemical and Mining Company shares through the mining company.
