A tyre manufacturing company will be inaugurated by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20) in Kordestan province, western Iran, the Mehr News Agency reported.

The company is projected to produce 60,000 tons of premium tyres annually.

It will create 500 direct jobs in the first phase which will be increased to 1300 in the next phases.

Iran's vehicle manufacturers are faced with both rising production costs and lacking some details as to how to manufacture cars after the giant international auto companies left Iran because of sanctions aimed to curb the country's disputed nuclear programme.

Iran's major car producer Iran Khodro which had been a partner of France's Peugeot since 1989 had to close some production units.

Iranian car manufacturers produced 72,845 vehicles in the ninth month of the current Iranian calendar year (November 21 - December 21).

The amount shows a 1.5 per cent increase compared to the preceding month's figure of 71,732 vehicles.
