Minister: Capacity at Kazakh capital’s airport to double

On the eve of the international exhibition EXPO-2017, the capacity of Kazakh capital's airport will double, Transport and Communications Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Zhumagaliyev told Trend.
"Astana airport will expand to double its capacity. Currently, a feasibility study and master plan has been worked out," the minister said.
He stressed that this project should take into account two issues which are to ensure the maximum expansion for passengers and optimal volume of investments.
"It is necessary to have an economic attitude towards this issue," Zhumagaliyev said.
According to the minister, it is planned to complete the expansion of Astana airport in late 2014 and early 2015.
"When it comes to the expansion of Almaty airport, the owner has carried out a survey and studied the issue with the mayor's office. It is planned to expand the terminal," the minister said.
