Kazakh banks improve payment infrastructure

Banks of Kazakhstan are revamping their payment infrastructure, according to the review of the banking payment infrastructure in the districts of Kazakhstan, prepared by experts of Ranking.kz analytical service

Banks of Kazakhstan are revamping their payment infrastructure, according to the review of the banking payment infrastructure in the districts of Kazakhstan, prepared by experts of Ranking.kz analytical service.

"For the year, the number of banking kiosks and terminals quadrupled up to 12,600," the review said. "The number of ATMs in the same period did not change. The number of banking kiosks for the year increased from 3,000 to 12,600."

The review said that the leaders in this field are the North Kazakhstan region (an increase of more than 10 times - up to 613 units), the East Kazakhstan region (an increase of almost eight times - up to 1193 units) and Akmola region (an increase of almost eight times - up to 468 units).

During the period from September 2013 to September 2014 increase in the number of ATMs on bank payment infrastructure of Kazakhstan amounted to only 1.1 percent. Their number in the current year reached 8930, which is 98 more than the last year. The reduction of ATM park was registered in six regions of Kazakhstan, the review said.
