Azerbaijan’s trade surplus revealed

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $5.65 billion in January-April 2018 that is by 64.7 percent more than in the same period last year, according to a report of the country’s State Customs Committee.

The share of state sector in export totaled $4.14 billion, private sector – $1.5 billion, individuals – $13.95 million.

Azerbaijan mainly exported oil and oil products, gas, fruits and vegetables, as well as electricity in January-April 2018.

During the period, import totaled $3.03 billion, which is 40.3 percent more than in January-April 2017. Some $507.78 million accounted for the state sector share in import operations, and $2.33 billion – for the private sector, $183.76 million – for individuals.

Azerbaijan mainly imported various machines and mechanisms, ferrous metals and ferrous metal products, vehicles and their spare parts, plastics and plastic products, as well as wood and articles of wood during the reporting period.

Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations increased by 55 percent and amounted to $8.68 billion in January-April 2018, as compared to January-April 2017. The surplus in the reporting period amounted to $2.63 billion, which is 2.1 times more than in the same period last year.
