Aluminum manufacturing, export drops in Kazakhstan

Extraction of aluminum ores in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.3 million tons during first four months of 2019, which is nearly 22 percent less than during the same period of last year, Trend reports referring to Energyprom.

At the same time the manufacturing of unprocessed aluminum also decreased by nine percent and equaled to 528,700 tons.

The major part or 99.4 percent of aluminum manufacturing accounts for Pavlodar region of the country, which is nine percent less than in the same period of the previous year.

“Based on results of 1Q2019 the volume of manufacturing in Kazakhstan fully covers the demand for unprocessed aluminum and it also covers 97.6 percent of the demand for aluminum oxides. At the same the volume of export decreased by 31.2 percent,” the statement said.

“During January-April 2019 the export volume of aluminum oxide decreased by 33.5 percent, whereas the export value decreased by 44.8 percent. The main importer of the aluminum oxide is Russia,” the source said.

“The export volume of unprocessed aluminum decreased by 1.1 percent during the reporting period, whereas its export value decreased by 12.5 percent. The main importers of unprocessed aluminum are Turkey, Italy and Uzbekistan,” the report said.
