Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to build high-speed railway

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will build a high-speed railway Turkestan-Tashkent, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the governor of the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan.

During the 18th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, the Governor of the Turkestan Region Umirzak Shukeyev met with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdullah Aripov, the Minister of Water Management of Uzbekistan Shavkat Khamraev and the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways Husniddin Khasilov.

During these meetings, the sides talked about the investment and tourism potential of the Turkestan region, discussed issues of cross-border cooperation, and signed a number of important agreements.

In particular, a memorandum was signed between Turkestan and Tashkent regions on the development of the tourism industry between the two regions, within the framework of which common tourist routes will be developed.

In addition, during a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Railways, a memorandum on the construction of the high-speed railway “Turkestan-Tashkent” was signed.
