Growth of consumer prices in Uzbekistan reaches its maximum

In August 2019, an increase in the average price level in the consumer market of Uzbekistan for the month amounted to 2.9 percent, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In general, in January-August 2019, goods and services in the consumer market became 8.2 percent more expensive than in the same period last year. Compared to August 2018, the average price level in the consumer sector of Uzbekistan increased by 16.5 percent.

A study of the dynamics of changes in consumer price indices for the previous month for 2018 and eight months of 2019 showed that the increase in consumer prices and tariffs for goods and services in August of this year reached its maximum (2.9 percent). Relatively high indicators were also observed in January, November, and December 2018 - 2.7 percent, 2.3 percent, and 2.1 percent.

A comparison of consumer price indices by December of the previous year for the first eight months of 2018 and 2019 revealed that in 2018 the price level reached its peak in the compared periods in May (6.6 percent) and in 2019 in August (8, 2 percent).

In general, from January 2018 to August 2019, the annual consumer price index reached its minimum in January 2019 (113 percent) and the maximum in January 2018 (120.1 percent).

Moreover, a study of this indicator in dynamics revealed that after a long downward trend during 2018 and relative stability in January-July 2019, the annual consumer price index took a direction of growth (16.5 percent in August 2019 against 13.5 percent - in July 2019).

As for price changes by groups, according to the results of August 2019, the price level for goods for the month increased by 2.2 percent, including for food - by 2.3 percent, non-food products - by 2.1 percent . Services have become more expensive by 5.6 percent for month.
