Trend:

More than 6,000 vehicles have been stock piled at Iran's customs, while the process of releasing the cars has not changed, said the head of Iranian Automobile Importers.

"Currently, the Customs Administration has issued license for release of 800 imported autos, while 2,200 vehicles have the warehouse clearance and 1,700 autos have received tax declaration," said Mehdi Dadfar, Trend reports citing ISNA.

"About 2,700 vehicles are being under supervision of justice officials, and in total, 6,000 autos remain in customs. There has been long correspondence for release of imported autos from customs, but so far it has no result," he indicated.

According to him, the release of auto imports from customs has been approved; however, the administrative organizations could not implement this measure in first four months of the current year (started March 21, 2019).

"There was lack of necessary cooperation between organizations and the bill to release cars was implemented during two months, but there was no possibility to release 14,000 autos from customs in four months," he added.

He went on to say: "The auto imports through free zones is not occurring and thus, there is no difference between these regions and other areas. If the import of new cars is not possible, how can we import second-hand cars?"

"The current issue for us is to release the imported vehicles from the customs, as all the released cars have been delivered to customers," he said.
