Trade turnover in Baku amounted to 5.1 billion manat ($3 billion) in the 1st quarter of 2020, having increased by 0.7 percent, compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports referring to the Baku City Statistics Department.
In particular, the prices of food products, beverages and tobacco products sold through Baku retail network increased by 0.9 percent compared to 1Q2019 and totally surpassed 2.3 billion manat ($1.3 billion).
Meanwhile, the value of sold non-food products increased by 1.1 percent and exceeded 2.7 billion manat ($1.5 billion).
As much as 30.9 percent of consumer products were sold through legal entities in the reporting period, while 20.6 percent were sold in retail facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs.
Baku trading markets accounted for the remaining 48.5 percent.
Trade turnover in Baku amounted to 22.2 billion manat ($13 billion) in 2019, having increased by 4.2 percent, compared to 2018. In particular, the prices of food products, beverages and tobacco products sold through Baku retail network in 2019 increased by 0.8 percent compared to 2018 and exceeded 10.5 billion manat ($6.2 billion).
Meanwhile, last year, the value of sold non-food products soared by 7.7 percent and exceeded 11.6 billion manat ($6.8 billion).
