Balance of Azerbaijan's foreign trade turnover growing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17

TAzerbaijani foreign trade turnover amounted to $11.1 billion from January through May 2020, which is 22.9 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing the monthly report of the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.

In the structure of foreign trade turnover, $6.9 billion accounted for exports, which shows a 19.1-percent decline on an annualized basis.

The share of exports for the reporting period decreased by 2.5 percent, while for the year increased by 3 percent, up to 62.6 percent of the country’s total foreign trade turnover.

The import to Azerbaijan amounted to $4.2 million from January through May 2020, shrinking by 28.6 percent compared to the same period of 2019.

The specific share of import in the total volume of the country’s trade turnover dropped by 3 percent to 37.4 percent of the total volume.

The balance of foreign trade turnover basis increased by 0.9 percent on an annualized basis and remained positive, amounting to $2.8 billion.
