Black caviar produced in Georgia may appear on the market for the very first time at the end of the year, Trend reports citing Georgian media.
Georgia's company Algi Plus plans to supply the product under the Georgian brand, said the report. At this stage, the process of expanding the enterprise is underway.
Algi Plus started operations with production of red caviar in 2011 and currently sells two tons of products a year. The company employs about 60 people, but launch of the black caviar production will create an additional 15 new jobs.
According to the company, the product will be sold in Georgia and exported to the countries of the region.
Earlier, Georgian Roe company announced that it will begin producing black caviar this year. The company also plans to export the caviar, but manufacturers do not disclose details. Georgian Roe company owns two fish farms in Gori district and has been operating for 17 years.
