Kazakh company looking to establish medical cannabis production

Kazakhstan’s Zhana Zhol Holding Limited company is looking to implement a project for the cultivation and production of medical cannabis, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the akimat (administrative center) of Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl region.

The company is planning to implement the project in the country’s Zhambyl region and is also looking to cooperate with investors.

The company intends to carry out research and development work, introduce modern technologies in the field of hemp cultivation and processing, as well as produce medicine.

The company’s leadership said that the region’s climate, geographical position give opportunities for the implementation of such a project. The company is planning to implement the project in four stages, within the framework of which research work will be carried out, amendments to the existing legislation will be made, and a new economy cluster will be formed.

The production volumes of pharmaceutical companies increased by 23.2 percent to 70.2 billion tenges ($167.8 million) over first seven months of 2020.

A draft Program for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry is to be developed in Kazakhstan by September 2020.
