The construction of the plant for processing of polymetallic ores continues in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, Trend reports citing the regional akimat (administrative center).

The project is to be completed in 2Q2021. The future plant the capacity of which will be 5 million tons of ore a year will be using the latest European equipment. Currently, qualified foreign specialists are taking part in the construction.

At the moment, the stage of commissioning is underway at the construction site. The plant will be processing lead-zinc ore with further production of two types of concentrate - lead and zinc.

Kazakhstan’s production of lead and zinc ores amounted to 5.1 million tons, which is 4.6 percent less than during the same period of 2019 (525,400 tons in Oct. 2020, decrease by 19 percent compared to Oct. 2019).

Furthermore, currently Kazakhstan’s Qazgeology National Company is carrying out exploration work to search for lead and zinc in Severo-Aktan ore occurrence.

The exploration site area site is 0.332 square kilometers. The company’s experts will have to identify and delineate promising areas and ore occurrences of lead, zinc and other minerals to assess the reserves of lead and zinc in the C2 category.
