Export of Georgian honey to EU markets increases

The export of Georgian honey to the EU markets has increased significantly, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.

In 2020, 21.7 tons of honey were exported from Georgia, which is 15.3 tons (3.4 times) more than in 2019.

Exports were carried out mainly to the EU (12.9 tons) and the US (4.9 tons), as well as to Canada (1.8 tons) and Qatar (1.2 tons).

In 2020, compared to 2019, honey exports to the EU countries increased by 6.7 times.

According to the ministry, in order to diversify the export markets of Georgian honey, the National Food Agency is actively cooperating with partners from different countries regarding documents and certificates required for export. Some results have already been achieved with the countries of the Persian Gulf, US, Canada, Japan.
